We return to 2 services at 8:30 and 10:00am on September 7th.

The office will be closed next week as Kathy takes a well deserved break. Fr. Kevin is due back
on Tuesday 2nd September.

Outreach

Back to School: school supplies and back packs for children and youth heading to school in
September. Once again St. Jude’s has outdone itself, from the target of 12 backpacks, June
blessed 25 last Sunday!! Well done, everyone. Thanks to Cindy Warner, and her helpers, for
coordinating all this.

St. Paul’s Foodbank
Our next time to donate food for St. Paul’s Foodbank is Sunday, 14th September.

Our next Community Breakfast is Saturday September 6th from 9 to 10:30 am. All are welcome!

Fundraising and Social

Nearly New Shop
The Nearly New shop half price sale started August 23rd. Be sure to drop in and check out the
very nice clothes at great prices while things are still available.
Tuesday 10-noon, Saturday 9-noon

Men’s Lunch. The next Men’s Lunch will be August 28th at 12:30, at the Alibi Roadhouse.

Breakfast Program fundraiser– 5 Km Run / Walk – Please be sure to put Sunday October 19th
in your calendar. At 2:30 pm. individuals, dogs, and teams will set off from St. John the
Evangelist Church, walk through Gibbons Park, onto the Parkway to the University gates and
through the neighbourhood back to St. John’s for pizza and prizes. We need your help to make
this collaboration a success. Open to participants of all ages and you don’t have to be a
St. Jude’s parishioner. Here are the ways you can contribute:
– as a runner or walker with pledges from family, friends and coworkers;
– recruit event sponsors, business or personal, for the gold, silver and bronze levels;
– help on race day with set up, registration, and clean up;
– be a race marshal along the event route;
– join with other musicians prior to the start of the race;
– pay $10 entrance fee to walk or run without pledges.

Reminder – 18 hole Mini-putt social for all ages on Saturday, September 20th,
4-5:30 pm at Tin Cup, 1324 Adelaide St. North, just down the street from the church. Cost will
be $13 per person. A food option after the game is being investigated. For more information,

Happy birthday!! This week to Larry O’C. (27th August), and Victor N. (29th. Hope you have
good celebrations!

And, congratulations to Cheryle Anne and David B., who celebrate their wedding anniversary
