Worship at St. Jude's

St. Jude’s is a growing and vibrant church community in North London rooted in worship and committed to faithful, loving service in our community and world. Our members continually live out their faith in their homes, places of work and with their friends and neighbours – so wherever you are on your spiritual journey you are welcome here – to learn and to grow as a disciple of Jesus Christ.

SUNDAY SERVICES

The service times are 8:30 am and 10 am

Please join us as we gather together to worship God and to connect and strengthen our relationship with one another. Anyone is welcome to explore and discover if St. Jude’s is a place for you and your family. The service at 8:30 a.m. is a said service while the 10:00 a.m. service has music and offers Sunday School for children over the age of three. The Book of Alternative Services [PDF] is the text used for both services. In summer, one service with music is held at 9:30 am.

Members and visitors are invited to worship virtually by watching the live streamed service at 10 am if they cannot join us in person. Please see the "Online Services" tab above.

Confidentiality Notice: If you do not wish to be visible on the livestreaming of our services on the internet, please see one of our Wardens prior to the service for further instructions.

At these services, four scripture passages are read – one from the Old Testament, one Psalm, one from the New Testament, and one from the Gospels. These services also include a sermon, prayers for the community and the celebration of the Eucharist. At the 10:00 a.m. service music is a central part of worship. Children and infants are welcome to remain in the sanctuary during the service, although children are also welcome to move to our childnre's ministry room for activites designed just for them, and return for the Eucharist.

  • A a visitor, you are welcome to contribute to the ministry of the parish when the offering if take up, but please don’t feel you have to!
  • At both services everything is projected entirely on the screen, and the priest will provide direction when needed.
  • Don’t worry if you don’t know exactly when you need to stand or sit (it isn’t really that important) and only join in when you feel comfortable.
  • We celebrate Holy Eucharist at our weekly services, and all baptized Christians are welcomed to receive the bread. Simply come up to the altar rail at the time of communion to receive with everyone else. Cup your hands to receive the bread. If you do not wish to receive, you may still come forward, cross your arms across your chest and receive a blessing. If you feel uncomfortable drinking from the common cup of wine, feel free to simply touch the base of the chalice.

If there is a question that comes to mind during the service, the sermon or during your exploration of the community you can ask after the service, send an email to the parish priest at kevindixon@diohuron.org

Baptism

Baptism is the rite of initiation into the Christian faith. This sacrament is based upon Jesus’ own baptism in the river Jordan when the spirit of God descended upon him. (Matt 3:13-17Mark 1:9-11Luke 3:21-22John 1:29-34)

THROUGH BAPTISM:

  • We are joined to God through Jesus Christ in a covenantal relationship.
  • God has promised us salvation and the forgiveness of our sins.
  • We promise to lead a baptismal life.
  • New believers are introduced to the community.
  • We are invited to participate in the Eucharist (Holy Communion) and to receive the highest offering of the church, the body and blood of Jesus Christ.
  • We are joined to the church universal in a covenantal relationship

HOW MUCH DOES BAPTISM COST?

Everything. To follow Jesus as a family is to give your entire life to God. But it is worth it and it is amazing! As with God’s grace, baptism is free for all willing to accept Jesus into their lives.

The text for the Rite of Baptism and more information can be found on page 146 of the Book of Alternative Services [PDF]

Funeral Services

Funeral services can be performed at St. Jude’s or at the Funeral home of your choice. For funerals at the church we offer the services of our organist and the use of the facility for a reception afterwards. The reception may be catered by the parish community or by an outside agency. Arrangements for funerals and receptions will be made with the parish priest. There are a number of different options for memorial and funeral services within the Anglican tradition to celebrate the life of your loved one in the context of Christian hope of resurrection and eternal life. When making arrangements the priest will meet with you to help you choose a service that speaks to you and the deceased, while celebrating the hope that is found in the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. To discuss funeral arrangements please phone the church at 519-660-6198 or contact the parish priest at kevindixon@diohuron.org
