switching internet providers. We hope to have the situation corrected for the upcoming service on

website.

Outreach

Outreach Ministry of the month for October is St. Paul’s Foodbank, plus of course
our own Breakfast Program.

St. Paul’s Foodbank
Our next time to donate food for St. Paul’s Foodbank is next Sunday, 12th October.

Breakfast Program: Many thanks to those who donated to the St. Jude’s
Breakfast Ministry through the month of September. The support of our parish family and friends
is amazing! What a difference it makes in the lives of those who come for breakfast on the 1st
and 3rd Saturday of each month. At the last breakfast, we were joined by a 3-generation family
who had just heard about us. There was the young adult son, his mother and her mother. They
seemed a bit overwhelmed by what we had to offer. Hopefully, they will come again to enjoy a
good breakfast, find some needed clothing and more importantly, experience a safe, welcoming
place to share fellowship with our team and others who join us. We served 140 at our last
breakfast.
While our time as ministry of the month is over, we continue our fundraising efforts through the
5 Km Run / Walk on Sunday October 19th. If you haven’t already done so, please consider
joining us for the walk or donate to the St. Jude’s walkers. There are pledge sheets in the Narthex
for those who prefer the low-tech option. To donate on-line at Canada Helps just follow this link
https://linktr.ee/StJohns5KRun . You can also scan the QR code on the Run / Walk posters
around the church. Support is needed now so we can avoid a deficit in our budget in the last few
months of 2025.
Our next breakfast is this Saturday October 4th from 9 – 10:30 am. All are welcome!

FundScrip. Rick will be in the Narthex this Sunday between the services to take your card
orders.

Alongside Hope (PWRDF) now has its Christmas cards available to order. Go to the order form
on the Alongside Hope website. Two different cards are available, in packs of 12, for each of
which a minimum donation of $25.00 is needed. Proceeds from Alongside Hope Christmas
cards support their programmes all over the world.
This year when you order cards, you’ll be sharing original artwork painted by the Rt. Rev. John
Watton, Bishop of Central Newfoundland and Labrador. Bishop John was elected Bishop in
2016, but has been painting for 25 years. “I started painting when my wife encouraged me to
‘stop talking about trying to paint, and try it!’ ” he says.
Most of his paintings are done in oils and acrylics, but Bishop John also uses water colour
techniques of pulling colours from berries and grass, and even did a painting that incorporated
mud from the River Jordan.
For Alongside Hope’s Christmas cards, Bishop John offered up several options, all widely liked
by staff. The two selected images are titled It Happened in Bethlehem and Winter Light. Both
images call to mind the everlasting light of Jesus.

Let’s Celebrate
